Suriname’s oil & gas sector moves toward development phase
Suriname’s oil and gas sector is entering a pivotal phase in 2026, transitioning from exploration toward project execution and long-term production. The offshore GranMorgu project in Block 58, led by TotalEnergies and APA Corporation in partnership with Staatsolie, is progressing toward delivery, with first oil targeted around 2028. At the same time, gas developments are gaining traction following the commercial discovery in Block 52. These developments signal a shift toward large-scale investment, creating downstream opportunities in logistics, services, infrastructure, and workforce development. For regional businesses, this marks a critical window to position within the emerging Suriname–Guyana energy corridor.
