Suriname accelerates local content, supplier development, and investment diversification initiatives

Suriname is actively strengthening its local content framework to ensure that domestic companies benefit from upcoming oil and gas developments. Through initiatives such as the Linkages & Supplier Development Program, the government is facilitating stronger connections between international investors and local businesses, with a focus on increasing SME participation across the value chain. This reflects a broader policy direction aimed at inclusive economic growth, capacity building, and long-term industrial development. In parallel, Suriname continues to advance its investment and export promotion strategy through the Suriname Investment & Trade Agency (SITA), including the identification of bankable projects in sectors such as agro-industry and tourism. These initiatives are supported by international partners and aim to diversify the economy beyond energy, while strengthening Suriname’s positioning as an emerging investment destination.
