Strengthening Local Enterprise: Afreximbank Partners with Suriname
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced plans to partner with Suriname’s government to establish a US$5 billion local content facility, unveiled at the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit. The initiative will finance infrastructure, build technical capacity, and support domestic enterprises as the country advances toward first oil. Drawing lessons from Nigeria’s local content success, Afreximbank will also provide advisory services to craft laws and policies that ensure Surinamese participation in the energy value chain. For the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce, this represents a pivotal opportunity to anchor local business growth within a regional strategy of shared prosperity.
