SGCC and OCBN Connect Businesses Ahead of IBC Suriname 2026

Paramaribo, Suriname/ Georgetown Paramaribo - 1 October 2026: The Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) thanks OCBN and all participants for today’s engaging session on business opportunities across Suriname, Guyana and the wider Caribbean. Building on our organisations’ reciprocal membership, the exchange brought their collaboration into practice through introductions, market insights and discussion of the support businesses need to expand across borders.

SGCC CEO Saudia Persaud, Co-founder and Director Dr. Vishnu Doerga, Directors Mr. Derrick Klaverweide and Brian Imambaks, outlined the Chamber’s work in market entry, business connections and advocacy. The discussion highlighted how energy-led growth is creating opportunities across other sectors, alongside the importance of reliable transport, clear regulatory processes and skills aligned with industry needs.

We were also honored to have His Excellency Ivan Fernald, Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname to Guyana and Honorary SGCC Director, join the session, sharing regional perspectives on cooperation and the importance of stronger connections between public and private sectors.

A central focus was IBC Suriname 2026, taking place from 13-15 October in Paramaribo. Hosted by SGCC, the event combines sector discussions and market entry masterclasses with B2B matching and networking, helping participants explore potential partners and make informed business decisions.

OCBN will also launch its operations in Suriname at IBC, marking an important next step in its regional expansion and creating further opportunities for continued engagement beyond the event.
